Shipping - all the details!
We’re on a mission to get your cookies to you fast, fresh, and in perfect condition—whether it’s sunny, snowing, or 105 degrees in Texas. Here’s everything you need to know:
📦 When Will My Order Ship?
Please allow 5-7 business days for processing, especially during sales or warmer months.
We may hold it until conditions are safe for transit. Except for warmer months, we ship Monday- Friday. During warmer months, we ship Monday- Wednesday.
As the weather gets warmer, this can sometimes lead to a back-up in iced orders and a subsequent delay in the amount of time it takes for order fulfillment.
If your order has taken a little longer to arrive than you'd like, don't fret. Send us a message through our chatbox on the site or email at Hello@legallyaddictivefoods.com and we’ll do what we can.
To ensure your chocolate stays in tip-top shape, it’s best that someone is at the delivery address to accept your order when it is delivered. If not, make sure the shipping carrier can leave your order in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Once it has arrived, remove the ice packs immediately.
💸 Shipping Rates -
The rates are determined by the carrier for the service available at checkout. We do not set the rates and they are based on distance (we are in Western North Carolina, zip code 28787) and weight.
🧊 Warm Weather Shipping Policies
We’re not monsters—we don’t send chocolate to melt in a mailbox!
Between May and October, or anytime temps are consistently above 75°F along the shipping route, we:

Use insulated packaging and ice packs and we do not charge extra for this.

Ship Monday through Wednesday only, to avoid weekend delays unless a customer has paid for one day shipping.

Offer 2-Day or Overnight Shipping the only option in certain places during warmer months. These orders will be expedited by our team to ship as quickly as circumstances allow.

May hold your order temporarily until the forecast is friendly.
We don’t love delaying orders, but we’d rather your cookies arrive late and delicious than early and a melted mess. If you need your order ASAP, please contact us at hello@legallyaddictivefoods.com or select Overnight/1 Day shipping at checkout.

Select hot-weather states via Ground when transit time exceeds ice pack lifespan. Select states already have 1 day shipping as the only option at checkout for warmer months. When the temps drop in the fall, so do the shipping rates!
🎁 Gifts, Notes & Surprises
Want to include a gift note? You can add it in the Cart before checkout.
And good news—no prices or receipts are ever included in the box! We do include packing slips but if you don’t want those, please let us know in the notes at checkout.
📍 Accurate Addresses Are Everything
Please double-check your shipping address, including any apartment or suite numbers.
Returned or delayed orders due to incorrect addresses may incur additional shipping fees.
📦 Expedited Orders
Need cookies STAT? Choose Overnight at checkout. Some locations will only have Overnight shipping as the sole option during warmer months.
These orders are processed with priority by our shipping team and will go out in 1-2 days but cannot ship on Fridays warmer months.
✈️ Shipping Outside the Lower 48

Hawaii & Alaska: Only expedited shipping is available to Hawaii year round and to Alaska June, July and August.
📦 Delivery Days & Holidays
UPS, FedEX USPS do not deliver nor do they pick up on national holidays. There is nothing we can do about this and we take these days into consideration when we schedule your shipments. Please factor in an extra day for delivery at these times.
🔁 Refunds & Returns
Since this is food, we can’t accept returns since we cannot add the product back into our inventory. However, please be sure that Route Shipping Insurance is not removed from your cart at checkout. This is the easiest way for both of us to have replacements or refunds issued. Route will cover orders that are missing, stolen and damaged in most cases. We are not responsible for packages delayed by carriers, or returned due to incorrect addresses.However, if your order is delayed by the carrier and damaged by the weather, Route will cover this as regular damage. If something else went sideways, email us—we’ll always do our best to make it right. File your Route Claim here!
If Route shipping insurance is removed from your cart, you will be unable to place a claim and will also not be entitled to a refund or replacement by us. We may make an exception for unusual circumstances.
